Dear Friends of EWH, ______________________ August 2019

As Fall approaches, there's no rest for the staff at EWH! As we finish up a successful set of 2019 Summer Institutes, we're hard at work planning 3 Institutes beginning in December (in Guatemala, Cambodia and Uganda) and 8 -- count 'em -- 8 Summer Institutes. We'll be in Kenya for the first time, and in Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda,Guatemala, and Nepal. There will be two separate Institutes in the Dominican Republic. We're so glad for your participation and support as we grow.

Summer Institutes

Our Summer Institutes in the Dominican Republic, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Nepal have all come to a successful finish! A total of 89 participants joined us from all over the world to learn new skills, share their knowledge, and repair important medical equipment alongside our hospital partners.

One participant from the Dominican Republic told us, "I know that [this program] has given me a life-long interest in other countries and cultures and has given me a better idea of what I want my career to be like."

We can't wait to share all of their accomplishments with you as soon as we've read through everyone's reports!

Interested in joining us in 2020? The application will open soon. In the meantime, you can learn more about the Summer Institutes on our website: https://www.ewh.org/the-institutes/

Start a Chapter!

EWH's university Chapters give students more opportunities to learn and support our mission to empower the global biomedical community.

Find out how you can start or renew a Chapter on our website.

Through education, engineering and innovation, and global service, Chapters provide many ways for students to connect with their communities, improve their design and hands-on technical skills, and make valuable contributions to EWH and global health.

Order Kits for Class or Clubs

Looking for a unique activity for your engineering class or EWH Chapter? Check out our three Kits, each modeled after real biomedical devices and designed to introduce students to key concepts in bioinstrumentation, circuitry, and biomedical engineering.

EWH offers discounts and financial aid to Chapters for Kit purchases. Assembly instructions and additional lab activities can be found on our website.

EWH will be attending the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Annual Meeting in October, which will be in Philadelphia, PA. Each year at BMES, EWH shares posters from our Design Competition and presents awards to our competition winners.

This year, EWH will also be attending the Society of Women Engineers' WE19 conference in Anaheim, CA, in November. This is a new one for us, and we'd love to see you there!
