Hello Friends,                                 April 2016

We are wrapping up another academic year with our 45 university Chapters, many of which brought STEM education to K-12 students, submitted Design Competition projects, and increased biomedical and global health knowledge through workshops, lectures, and public events.

Thank you so much for your support, which allows us to provide these incredible opportunities for young engineers!

Looking ahead, we can't wait for Summer Institute 2016!

Summer Institute 2016

It's time for EWH's Summer Institute to get back to work! SI Nicaragua begins in just two weeks, kicking off another summer of hospital equipment repairs around the globe. This year, EWH is excited to welcome 62 participants in Nicaragua, Rwanda, and Tanzania, as well as 19 participants in our first-ever Summer Institute in Nepal. The SI Class of 2016 carries passports from 18 different countries, including Bangladesh, Finland, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Turkey, and Venezuela. We can't wait to see what our newest group will do!

Shout outs to our university partners Duke University, Texas A&M, and the Technical University of Denmark for their help recruiting students and facilitating student training. And thanks, as always, to our scholarship providers: Tensentric Inc, BD, the Stryker Johnson Foundation, the Noble Foundation, the FJC Group, Access Healthcare in Nepal, Danaher, Corning, the Derfner Foundation, the Hamilton-Roddis Foundation, and individual donors. We could not run this program without your generous support.

USA Science & Engineering Festival

Thank you so much to everyone who visited us at the USA Science & Engineering Festival. We had an amazing three days talking to thousands of people about biomedical engineering and its role in global health. Our favorite part was meeting so many future engineers!

EWH's Digital BMET Library

EWH recently launched a new, open-source digital library for BMETs. By providing a collection of resources for technicians and engineers working in the developing world, EWH hopes to foster information exchange and continue to build a strong global network in the biomedical community.
