Students Come Together in Rwanda
The Summer Institute in Rwanda began last week! Nineteen students from seven countries have all come together in Kigali to start learning Kinyarwanda, French, and technical skills to prepare for their second month of working in Rwandan hospitals.
Students are settling in with their homestays:
Anastasia’s Homestay family - (Left to right) Sabina (relative of homestay), Gabriela Perez (SI student), me, Joselyne (homestay mom), Bre Brocklesby (SI student)
They also learned how to build a power extension cord in their first lab:

And, when they’re not in class, students are learning about Rwandan society and culture:
Via Anastasia: Visiting a women's co-op outside out Kigali on our way to visit the Millennium Village where we listened to Genocide survivors
Via Bryan: The group visits a banana farm to learn about agriculture in Rwanda.
Some students have also started blogs that you can follow to find out more about their experience!
