For the past three weeks, students from the Nordic Five technical universities have been studying at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in preparation for EWH’s Summer Institute in Nepal. Next week, they will begin six weeks of working in hospitals to maintain and repair medical equipment and share their knowledge with local hospital staff.

David Kovacs, our on-the-ground coordinator for the Nepal program, writes:

Dear all,

We had the last exams at DTU today. Students learned a lot, that was very clear. We think the course was a great success and the students did very well on their exams. This Monday we invited key supporters to see the course in action, as you can see in these images by Adam Garff:

You can see Mr. Topsøe, Martin Vigild (dean), and head of Otto Mønsteds foundation Mr. Conradsen in the images. You'll also see the best electrical surgery and anesthetic BMETs in Denmark teaching in the images. And then of course there are our wonderful students and our two professors Kaj-Åge Henneberg and Jens Wilhjelm who all worked hard for this.

I'm off to Nepal, just finished packing! The students are all landing on Monday morning.

Then their language training starts Tuesday while I'm headed to our two new hospitals to ensure that everyone is ready to welcome our students. It will be a busy, exciting week!

Best,

David
