As you may know from some of our past blogs, On-the-Ground Coordinators (OTGCs) play a vital role in EWH’s Summer & January Institute programs. Our OTGCs are often, but not always, past participants in the programs. As coordinators, they work in-country for 3-10 weeks, helping to prepare for participants’ arrivals, serving as Teaching Assistants, and supporting participants in their hospital assignments. Our OTGCs come from around the world, and regularly display great passion and dedication in the intersection of global health and technology, as well as a strong sense of adventure. For our second year partnering with the University of New South Wales, EWH’s January Institute in Cambodia has 23 students from UNSW and the University of Sydney. After a couple weeks getting oriented at the University of Puthisastra in Phnom Penh, the students moved on to their hospital assignments.…

Last year, EWH successfully transitioned our BMET Training program in Cambodia to our educational partner, the University of Puthisastra. Since then, EWH-trained staff and teachers have continued running the accredited program. Students who complete the program graduate with an associates degree in biomedical technology.…
