Hello Friends,                              

As August ends, we at EWH are busy wrapping up the 2017 Summer Institute programs. All together, 131 participants joined the January & Summer Institutes to work in hospitals and clinics in Nicaragua, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Cambodia, Guatemala, and Nepal! Didn't get to go this year? Applications for summer 2018 will open October 1.

As one program ends another begins! Our Chapters are getting back to school, and we're getting ready for the upcoming January Institutes.

Design Competition Winners

We are very excited to announce the 2017 EWH Design Competition Winners! The ingenuity of all our participants demonstrates the significant impact engineering solutions can have on healthcare challenges around the world. After great deliberation and with great enthusiasm, we present to you:

1st Place: Purdue University,
For Their AutoCPR: Low Cost, Accessible CPR

2nd Place: Chung Yuan Christian University,
For Their Vital Aid: Patient Monitoring for Large Casualty Events

3rd Place: Vanderbilt University,
For Their Solaleo: Low-Cost Vacuum Sterilization

Team members and advisers are invited to present posters of their designs at EWH’s booth at the BMES annual meeting in October, where they will also receive their awards.

Get Involved With EWH's BMET Library!

 

EWH's BMET Library offers digital access to information about medical device preventative maintenance, healthcare technology management (HTM), repair and troubleshooting, and much more! The library is free to use and helps us expand the information available to BMETs around the world.
